An important message from GENYOUth CEO Alexis Glick:
In 2020, we answered an urgent pandemic call-to-action to help feed our nation’s at-risk youth. And although we may be heading into a “new normal,” there is still a critical need for solutions to end student hunger. The USDA recently made an unprecedented decision to extend universal school meals through the 2021-22 school year. This means that schools will be feeding more kids, in more locations, during different times of the day – and that they have an urgent need for additional funding to cover unbudgeted meal delivery resources. Each day we ask ourselves who will help feed our nation’s kids? The answer is all of us, together, because the only hunger a child should have is the hunger to learn. We invite you For Schools’ Sake to learn about GENYOUth and join our fight to End Student Hunger Now!
CEO Voices in Support of Healthier School Communities
Too many American youth are inactive, undernourished, and unconnected. Students spend 180 days per year at school – yet schools are under resourced. But GENYOUth is equipping, engaging and empowering youth to make a difference!
Why? Because every child deserves to be healthy, with access to nutritious food and physical activity, as well as the opportunity to be their personal best.
Through innovative public-private partnerships GENYOUth:
Gives Youth a Voice; Enhances Nutrition and Physical Activity in Schools; Nurtures Youth Leadership and Workforce Readiness.
Food insecurity, food access challenges and the crisis in physical inactivity keep children from achieving their full potential. GENYOUth addresses these challenges by collaborating with students, schools, communities, business partners and thought leaders to identify and implement solutions – while always keeping students at the center of the conversation.
When students are given a voice, positive change happens.

Celebrating Our Partners

GENYOUth proudly recognizes Blue Shield of California for their $500,000 contribution to GENYOUth’s End Student Hunger Fund to support the delivery and distribution of nutritious school meals to high-need California schools and their students. The funding is part of Blue Shield of California’s commitment to exploring and investing in innovative approaches to health equity that are reflective and responsive to the needs of the community. Working in collaboration with GENYOUth, Blue Shield is providing these schools with $3,000 grants to support their school meal programs. This funding addresses a critical need as 1 in 6 U.S. children live in food-insecure households and 30 million children rely on school meals for their daily nourishment, according to the USDA. These grants will help increase students access to and participation in school meals, ensuring they get the nutrition they need.
