Parent Perspective: Progress Update From SAP Teen Innovator, Ciara’s Mom

April 24, 2017

More than almost anything else, GENYOUth loves to share updates on our students and all of the amazing things they’re doing to lead change and make their schools and communities healthier. Through our Fuel Up to Play 60 and AdCap programs, students share updates in their own words on progress and lessons learned, which often teaches and makes us smarter about the work we do to serve students and schools.

That said, some of our favorite updates come from the people closest to the students. Parents see perhaps better than anyone, how much their kids grow through the work they do, acquiring skills and becoming passionate advocates for their own healthy futures. Parents champion and they cheerlead. A great example of this is a recent post on the AdCap Community Hub written by our first SAP Teen Innovator, Ciara’s mom, Trisha. Trisha used HER voice to rally on social media for her daughter, and has since watched closely as Ciara’s worked to evolve her AdCap Community Wellness app project with support from SAP mentors and her peers at teachers in Philadelphia.

We appreciate Trisha checking in with us on Ciara’s progress as an AdCap Entrepreneur and enterprising Teen Innovator. This proud mom attributes AdCap, SAP and the Social Innovation Experience Ciara had to opening Ciara’s eyes to her own limitless potential. You can visit the AdCap Community Hub here to read Trisha’s update on Ciara, and stay tuned for more student stories!
