For Schools’ Sake
30 million children depend on the USDA’s school meal program for a substantial portion of their daily nutrition. For some, it’s the only meal they can count on.

Assisting Schools During a Pandemic
GENYOUth established the COVID-19 EMERGENCY SCHOOL MEAL DELIVERY FUND to assist schools nationwide in their extraordinary effort to provide school meals safely to students during the Coronavirus pandemic.
During the pandemic, across the nation school nutrition staff and volunteers have taken up the critical task of school meal distribution outside of the cafeteria, employing a variety of means to ensure students continue to receive the nutrition they need. While Federal funding is continuing to subsidize the cost of food, additional money is crucial to provide schools with resources for food storage, single-serve packaging, distribution, delivery and sanitation/safety protective gear.
To meet this unprecedented need, GENYOUth launched a national campaign, “For Schools’ Sake – Help Us Feed Our Nation’s Kids!” A two-pronged initiative, the campaign invites schools to apply for grants up to $3,000 per school building to purchase supplies for meal distribution and delivery. Schools can apply at https://covid-19.genyouthnow.org, and all applications are reviewed, with funds distributed on a rolling basis. To date, GENYOUth with the support of our partners has raised over $10 million in cash and in-kind resources, which has supported over 9,000 schools. Yet thousands of school applications still need funding.
