“Save the Date ”GENYOUth ANNOUNCES ITS INAUGURAL GALA! Come celebrate with us!
Be a part of GENYOUth’s Inaugural Gala, December 7, 2016. Support us in recognizing five years of empowering American youth around health and wellness!
A TIME TO PAUSE, REFLECT, GATHER, CELEBRATE.
Since its founding in 2010, GENYOUth has pioneered and evolved a menu of nationwide initiatives that empower youth to develop and exercise their influence in creating healthy, high-achieving schools and communities. Our Inaugural Gala will bring together valued partners to both acknowledge and to renew their commitment to our mission of building on the long legacy of passionate American youth as leaders of social change.
CONSIDER THAT IN THE UNITED STATES:
One in three children and adolescents is overweight or obese – with devastating near and long-term implications for their health, cognition, and well-being.
Fewer than 4% of elementary schools, 8% of middle schools, and 3% of high schools currently offer daily physical education.
Only 2% of kids get adequate daily servings of all food groups.
One in five U.S. children lives in a food-insecure household.
THROUGH OUR FLAGSHIP PROGRAM FUEL UP TO PLAY 60:
$500 can provide a school with fitness equipment like jump ropes and playground balls, or environmental improvements like playground stencils to make sure students really can and do PLAY during recess.
$500 allows a school to start, maintain or improve school gardens that can influence the healthy eating choices and nutrition knowledge of 500+ students on average.
$1,000 can help a school create a salad or breakfast bar to improve healthy food options and choices daily for 500+ students in the average school.
$1,000 invested in school facilities like bike racks or walking trails encourages students and families to be active year round.
A LANDMARK EVENT.
GENYOUth’s Inaugural Gala takes place on the evening of Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at The Waldorf Astoria Starlight Ballroom, 18th Floor Penthouse in New York City. This inaugural extravaganza celebrates five impressive years of advancing child health and wellness in partnership with multiple organizations and individuals who support and make possible our work. That work involves bringing together private and public partners, convening dialogues, enlisting colleagues, generating insights, building awareness, and channeling resources.
